Blazers are my favorite article of clothing. Why? Because they always add the finishing touch and they’re versatile. Versatile? Yes. Blazers aren’t just for the workplace anymore. They’re perfect for a “classic” and semi-preppy outfit when heading to brunch with your girlfriends, shopping, or grabbing an acai bowl when you’re not in your Lululemon leggings.
There is something so fresh about winter whites, whether they’re dressed up or worn casually. White items are also timeless, allowing you to wear them for years to come. It may seem easy to throw on everything white that you own, but there are some tips and pointers that I recommend taking into consideration before you go full-force and jump into the deep end. First, try to mix shades of white, cream, and grey. Second, try grabbing tailored pieces to add some sophistication and simplicity. Third, use it as a clean canvas! Incorporate some pattern or print to spice it up. Lastly, wear bright shoes that aren’t white.
I’m always drawn to little black dresses, especially when they’re vintage inspired. When I first saw the “Record Time” dress on Modcloth, I immediately felt a 1960’s vibe with a slight Chanel hint and tone.
This dress is versatile, allowing you to dress it up, wear it casually, or turn it into a costume.
Fall is the best season of the year if you’re in love with fashion. The weather is versatile enough to allow your creativity to shine! You can still get by wearing the questionable summer pieces, but also incorporate some early winter pieces into your look. While getting creative is a blast, there are still some important concepts to keep in mind. Below is a list of tips and, of course, some “no-no’s!”
Do you know why I love dresses? I love dresses because they’re easy. They’re easy to throw on and make it seem like you tried extra hard that day. I always get the most compliments when I’m wearing a dress and I can’t help but laugh every time. If they only knew that I was wearing a dress out of pure laziness, they would probably take back their compliment.
Loose fitting button-downs (ups?) always portray a classic and effortless look, which means they’re easy to throw-on and go when you’re rushing to your next summertime activity.
I can’t think of a better summertime refreshment other than a chilled glass of rose. These shoes by Sam Edelman are a total conversation starter.
It’s the season of white! White is color at its most complete and pure, the color of perfection. The color meaning of white is purity, innocence, wholeness and completion. In color psychology white is the color of new beginnings, wiping the slate clean, so to speak. It is the blank canvas waiting to be written upon. While white isn’t stimulating to the senses, it opens the way for the creation of anything the mind can conceive.
Ahh…How it feels to be a superhero for a day! This 2015-2016 we’ve been seeing a perfect fashion trend what is called a “cape.” These cover-ups, or second-layers, are ideal replacements for a classic coat, jacket, and blazer. They have a slimming and sophisticated silhouette, and add a sort of chic and completeness to any ensemble.
Another fun trend that I wasn’t on-board with until I personally tired it on are one-piece bodysuits. Of course, there are some important pros and cons when wearing one-pieces, similar to those of a romper, but a major bodysuit plus is that they always lay flat, which is perfect when layering. This means no awkward puffing when trying to tuck a blouse in! Major win!
This particular ribbed, bikini-cut bodysuit gives you a snug fit, a soft feel and a dramatic deep V neckline with strappy details above the waist, with stay-put security below. Give this trend a try!
“Anything that annoys you is teaching you patience. Anyone who abandons you is teaching you how to stand up on your own two feet. Anything that angers you is teaching you forgiveness and compassion. Anything that has power over you is teaching you how to take your power back. Anything you hate is teaching you unconditional love. Anything you fear is teaching you courage to overcome your fear. Anything you can’t control is teaching you how to let go.”

Dusters are a popular trend lately. They started popping up during the early fall and winter, but I’ve been seeing them throughout the spring as well. Our generation can’t take credit for this trend though…They actually originated in the 1920s! Women would throw them on when traveling in a car. The modern-day duster coat comes in multiple styles — belted, buttoned, short, long…
This leads me to my next point.
Every stylists’ favorite word…
They’re appropriate in nearly every situation, from casual to formal. Dusters pair effortlessly with almost every ensemble! I love the idea of them because I see handfuls of people abusing leather jackets when going out with friends, whether it’s downtown or out to dinner. Wearing the same leather jacket just gets old and repetitive! Most dusters are made of a lightweight material, so they don’t make you feel too hot when you’re using it to layer.
So, with this post, I dare you to start mixing your second layers up and start getting a little more creative. Double doggy dare you. Now you have to.
